Lily: To get started, in general, what does home mean to you?

Kit: "Comfort" is the first word that comes to mind. I think that [its] anywhere that feels safe or somewhere that you can be yourself. It doesn't necessarily have to be where you live, that's your house.

L: Has your YouTube career changed at all since quarantine started?

K: Well not really, I suppose is the short answer. However, I only started my career late last year to early this year (December 29th, 2019), so I feel like I didn't take full advantage of going out in public and vlogging and doing different videos with my friends. I always think its super funny that I've only really been doing YouTube during the pandemic as I feel like I've really been doing it for years. I guess like a lot of people who work from home, you just get accustomed to doing everything at home. So, I only think that it has changed in the sense that I can't go out and do the videos that I would like to do. However, I suppose it hasn't really changed because I mainly film, edit, and upload in my bedroom anyhow.

L: Feeling nervous or sad everyone in a while is almost inevitable during these times, if you're comfortable with talking about this, how do you deal with these feelings? How would you advise for other people to do when they get in this mindset?

K: I try my best to not be sad or dwell on things, but as much as you want to, you can't change your emotions with a click of a finger. It takes time. I can't exactly pinpoint a time when I felt sad or down. However, I definitely have a complex where I always feel like I'm being lazy or I can be doing more which then makes me feel like I'm kinda a failure which then...makes me sad. I deal with this by trying to take myself out of the situation that has made me sad. So if I'm sad or upset in my house, I will go for a long walk and try and clear my mind of the things that are bothering me. Or I will distract myself with some trashy telly.

L: Is the internet currently a huge part of our lives as we stay at home?

K: Well for me personally, it is. I work in social media so its kinda my job to be constantly updating my certain accounts. However, recently I had to draw the line. I feel like sometimes I can spend almost the whole day on social media, aimlessly scrolling through TikTok and Twitter. I had to delete those accounts and the apps off my phone because it was keeping me from evolving and getting on with my real life.

L: There's a lot of negative things happening around the worlds now, sadly. Do you have anything positive in your life that you would like to share?

K: Hmmm, I think something positive that has happened to me is that i'm revamping my YouTube channel. I feel like sometimes on social media you can accidentally find yourself falling into a mold of Twitter and TikTok that they want you to be. I think its very important to take a step back and realize that you don't have to fit in with Twitter and social media. Isn't it funny that a lot of us use social media as misfits but even sometimes I don't think I fit in with the misfits. In conclusion, a positive thing is evolution and constantly working on yourself.

L:  Do you consider the internet to be a home? If so, why?

K: No, I don't actually. I think I used to, but from experience of being on the internet since I was a child it's really important to have a time limit on your social media and internet intake. There are so many negative things on social media for example: photoshop bodies, people being "over partied", and just general hate. It's important to stay connected to your friends and family and go for a walk. If I have learnt anything over this year, it's that staying connected in real life is important and staying connected to the wifi comes second.
